Executive Assistant Director for Emergency Communications Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
Reliable, secure, and resilient interoperable emergency communications (voice, data, IT services) are key tools in protecting the Nation’s 16 critical infrastructure sectors, especially communications and emergency services. A closer partnership between CISA and industry focusing on the security of products by design and by default in manufacture and production of consumer products will be a challenge as the Nation evolves into 5G/6G standards, IoT and Smart Cities, and other IP-dependent technologies.
Learning Objectives:
At the culmination of this session, participants will be able to articulate the potential foreseen challenges that can arise with the application of advanced technologies in emergency communications (i.e. 5G/6G/ Internet of Things/ PSAP Transition to IP).
At the culmination of this session, participants will have a better understanding of the accessible services CISA provides to ensure reliable, resilient and secure interoperable emergency communications nationwide. This knowledge can be used to better inform decisions within their own agencies as it relates to emergency communications and cybersecurity.
At the culmination of this session, participants will have a better awareness about the Cyber Resiliency 911 a new CISA program established to educate emergency services on receiving and processing data and video communications as well as voice calls from consumer technologies such as home security systems.
