A case study into the chaos that ensues following a ransomware attack on public safety answering points (PSAP) and how to respond to this emergency while ensuring service availability for critical operations. This talk dives into threat actors and motivations, attack patterns, lateral threat propagation within PSAP architecture, targeted critical communication systems, incident response, key parties involved, reporting, and communication service resilience and recovery. Prevention is better than cure, however this talk will equip the audience with the strategies necessary for managing the post-incident events in resource constrained public safety operations when the threat materializes.
