As 911 Call takers and Dispatchers, we often find ourselves on the other end of the line with a caller in crisis, every day. Each caller presents a unique situation that they are depending on US to guide them through safely to the other side...Do you feel confident in how you are responding to callers in active crisis? Do you feel prepared and equipped to de-escalate hysterical callers? How about a woman/man involved in an active domestic situation...A caller who is experiencing suicidal thoughts or has a plan...A young child caller... Someone battling with Mental Health issues such as severe anxiety or schizophrenia...Although we are not psychological professionals, this track will help you navigate these callers and others with confidence while better preparing you on how to face these sensitive issues without absorbing the trauma yourself. We will approach this with a little humor, a lot of facts, and some candid discussions that will enhance your skill set and give you the confidence to assist any caller no matter the severity of the situation at hand. This session is for you no matter where you are in your 911 career!
