Heather is a dynamic leader in emergency communications with over 25 years of experience, driven by a passion for public safety and innovation. As the Director of Emergency Communications for Burke County, North Carolina, and founder of The PSAP Consulting Group, she is on a mission to revolutionize how 911 centers serve their communities. Since stepping into her role in Morganton in 2022, Heather has championed cutting-edge technologies to enhance response times and improve emergency access, particularly in rural areas where every second counts.
Having spent over two decades as the 911 Director for Halifax County Central Communications, Heather understands the unique challenges PSAP leaders face. She founded The PSAP Consulting Group to empower directors and supervisors through executive coaching, leadership development, and strategies for driving organizational change. A respected speaker at national conferences, Heather shares actionable insights to help 911 leaders build resilient teams and deliver exceptional service. In addition to her consulting work, she serves as Vice President of Community Alliances at eBodyGuard and contributes to initiatives like the Lake Gaston 911 Task Force and the LAPSEN Dispatch Pathway. Heather also hosts the podcast Stop 911 Drama: PSAP Real Talk, where she tackles the real-world challenges of leading in today’s fast-paced 911 centers.
