Idaho POST Certified General Topics Instructor
Ada County Sheriff's Office

Cortney Lyskoski is a passionate advocate for first responder wellness and Emergency Communication Officers (ECOs) in Idaho. With nearly 9 years of experience in the dispatch environment, including 3 years as a dispatch supervisor, Cortney has been instrumental in advocating for ECOs, presenting during Senate and House hearings to support legislation aimed at improving protection for and reclassifying ECOs as first responders, ensuring they receive the same retirement benefits as other first responders in the state.
Since May 2018, Cortney has developed and run the existing 911 education program, which has grown from 2 dispatch instructors to 17 and now includes programs for all ages and diverse communities such as care facilities, schools, senior communities, and the refugee population. The program also includes tailored education for fellow first responders, including POST Certified curriculum for law enforcement. Cortney's work in developing these interactive and engaging programs, customized to meet the unique needs of each community, has provided a successful model for other agencies to follow in building their own 911 education initiatives. Through this program, Cortney has helped other agencies and the communities they serve build bridges and improve life-saving efforts by integrating 911 dispatch operations into broader community engagement.
