Jodi Slate has 35 years-experience as a public safety professional. During her career, Jodi has worked in the field as an EMT and in public safety communications which includes managing systems and personnel associated with 9-1-1, EMS, and police dispatching. She began working for Denver 9-1-1 in 2002 and has served as a Police Dispatcher, a CTO, and Operations Supervisor. In 2021 she promoted to the role of Operations Manager for Denver 9-1-1. Believing strongly in the need for effective support of public safety personnel, Jodi has adopted a leadership style that focuses equally on helping employees successfully maintain a healthy work-life balance as well as assisting her team in becoming the best leaders possible. In 2021, Jodi completed her doctoral studies in emergency management which afforded her the opportunity to further her passion public safety. Dr. Slate is known as an accomplished presenter on various topics, including the promotion of wellness in public safety with a focus on the necessary overlay of physical and emotional health. She spoke on this topic at the 2021 National Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Conference in San Antonio, Texas. She also presented at the 2023 National Emergency Number Association (NENA) conference in Grapevine, Texas on the innovative topic of dispatching civilians to certain low-acuity 9-1-1 calls that include mental health components. In addition to her doctorate, Jodi holds a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Administration. She also completed the Certified Public-Safety Executive (CPE) Program through APCO International.
