Douglas Oeser is the Director of Data Accountability & Crime Analysis at the Asheville Police Department in North Carolina, where he leads a team using data and technology to support public safety. He began his career as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, building a strong foundation in operational intelligence. After serving, he earned a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Sociology with a focus on Criminology, and a minor in Statistics. Since joining the Asheville Police Department in 2017, Douglas has advanced data-driven policing, integrating GIS, network analysis, and visualization tools to inform decision-making. Promoted to his current role in 2021, he also specializes in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for crime scene documentation and disaster response, combining law enforcement, geospatial analysis, and emerging tech to enhance public safety.
