Emily Zavala was a Police Service Representative with the Los Angeles Police Department where she worked in the capacity of an emergency operator and police dispatcher for the 16 years. Using her experience as a public safety telecommunicator, Emily founded Gold Line Positive Solutions, a consultation and training company that specializes in positive interventions for public safety organizations. In addition, she works full-time as an Administrative Analyst for the Office of the City Administrative Officer for the City of Los Angeles in the Equity, Performance Management and Innovation group. She is part of the efforts to develop an alternative crisis response framework for the City of Los Angeles. Emily received her B.A. in Psychology from California Lutheran University and M.A. in Positive Organizational Psychology and Evaluation from Claremont Graduate University. She is currently working on completing her PhD in Positive Organizational Psychology. Guided by personal experience, her research is focused on first responders and the development of practices to preserve and enhance their well-being. She has co-authored a chapter titled "Promoting Optimal Well-Being Among Law Enforcement Employees" and has spoken at the several industry-specific conferences for 9-1-1 professionals.
