Anoka County Emergency Communications Center
Anoka, Minnesota
Experienced forward thinking 9-1-1 Director. Started my career over 30 years ago as a dispatcher working the floor. Promoted to supervisor in charge of training and then moved into the Assistant Director position. May of 2024, I moved into our Director - Emergency Commuinications role. I understand the changing landscape of 9-1-1 and the expectations put on our staff from the public and public safety sides. We make it a priority to look for innovative ways to make the role easier on the telecommunicators and supervisors working the floor. Anoka County ECC has seen increased retention after implementing a new training model and we've given our PSTC additional tools to help ease the workload.
Anoka County ECC provides 9-1-1 services to 11 law enforcement agencies and 16 fire departments. We answer calls for all of Anoka County which has a population of 380,000 people. We're part of the metropolitan region in Minnesota. Our department believes in fully supporting our staff by starting with better on boarding and training because that leads to more retention. We aren't afraid to move forward with new technology to help us better meet expectations while easing the workload on our staff. We fully support mental health and wellness initiatives and make our staff a priority. Our leadership embraces servitude, we are here for our staff to support them as best we can.
