Employee Development Specialist
Sedgwick County Emergency Communications
Wichita, Kansas
My name is Kameo Harlan and I am currently an Employee Development Specialist at Sedgwick County 911 in Wichita, KS. I began my career here in October 2018 as a call taker and have since progressed through roles as Dispatcher I (Fire and EMS), Dispatcher II (Law Enforcement), and Certified Training Officer before stepping into my current position.
Since taking on this role in June 2024, I’ve worked to support our department’s growth and contribute to its ongoing development. My passion for 911 is immeasurable. I'm deeply committed to our community and put my heart into helping shape a positive future for our department. This includes developing our training programs, policies and procedures, working closely with our entire team and continuously encouraging change and improvement wherever possible. I give my all to support our team, and am devoted to making our center one of the best in the country.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner, Tanner; our seven snakes; two dogs; and our cat, Tuesday! We stay busy keeping up with our six nephews and three nieces, whom we affectionately refer to as our niblings. We love playing video games, board games, reading as much as possible, and spending time fishing, camping, and enjoying the lake life.
I have been a part-time student during my career at Sedgwick County, pursuing a degree in Digital Marketing through WSU Tech here in Wichita. I have only one class remaining! Outside of my role at 911, I help small local businesses strengthen their digital presence. I’m passionate about supporting local businesses and love exploring both new spots and old favorites around town when I’m not on duty.
